🔪 How To Make Chicken Seasoning
This homemade chicken seasoning is worth a couple of minutes of prep time! Go ahead and make plenty so you have it when you need it! You'll just need a small mixing bowl, your measuring spoons, and an airtight jar to store it in.
This recipe will yield approximately 2 tablespoons of seasoning mix.
- Add. In a small bowl add 1 teaspoon each of salt, basil, and rosemary, ½ teaspoon each of garlic powder, paprika, and thyme, and ¼ teaspoon of black pepper.
- Add optional ingredients. Add the optional ingredients of ½ teaspoon of dry mustard, ¼ teaspoon of both celery seed and cumin, and ⅛ teaspoon of cayenne and chicken bouillon.
- Combine. Mix until well combined and use immediately or store for later.
Season your chicken liberally before cooking, but make sure that you shake stored spices before using the seasoning mix later. You can use this blend on any of your favorite chicken recipes! Enjoy!
💭 Tips & Notes
- Yields about 2 tablespoons of chicken seasoning. However, you can use the serving slider to adjust and make more if desired!
- If you have a spice grinder then I suggest grinding the celery seed, thyme, and rosemary for a smoother seasoning.
- If you can not find chicken bouillon granules then you can crush up chicken bouillon cubes.
🥡 Storing
This blend will store in an airtight container in a cool dark place for up to 1 year with no flavor loss. However, the longevity depends on how fresh the spices were, to begin with.

❓ FAQ
Are Chicken Seasoning And Poultry Seasoning The Same Thing?
Yep! These two items can be used interchangeably. However, do not get them confused with chicken bouillon, as these are not the same.
What Seasonings Go Well With Chicken?
Surprisingly, there are actually a lot of seasonings that pair well with chicken! This seasoning blend contains some of my favorites, such as basil, salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme, garlic powder, and paprika.
Should I Pat Chicken Dry Before Seasoning?
Yep! I always rinse my chicken in cool water and then pat it completely dry using paper towels before adding my seasoning. This removes any excess moisture that could lead to soggy skin or dry meat.
